On Monday I finally got around to running a time trial in Centennial Park. It was my first since last July – a time trial in which I hurt my Achilles. On that occasion I ran 15:40, which is one of my fastest in the past few years. I was determined to take it easy on Monday and would have been happy with anything under 18 minutes.
As it turned out, despite being very comfortable throughout, I managed to stop the clock in 16:22. It’s a far cry from my best of 12:50, but that was back in 1984 (although I did run a 12:57 in 1997). But I was pretty happy with a 16:22, particularly because I know I can definitely get into the 15s with little extra effort. Let’s see how I go in the months ahead.
Today’s photos and videos are from northern New Mexico and southern Colorado around this date in 2012. By this stage I was running in the Rockies on the Alto Plano at around 8,000 feet, surrounded by 14,000 feet peaks. I’ll let you enjoy the mountain scenery below.
