Today was our equal longest of the trip, with 160 km. Once again, however, it was very flat, with just 345 metres of climbing. We rode from Turro (about 10 km south of Piacenza) to Verona. During the morning we rode on quiet back roads and a great cycle path along the Po River. The afternoon was busier, but the distance passed quickly. Lunch was some roasted vegetables from a supermarket.
Tomorrow is a planned day off in Verona. I’ve been here once before and recall it being a place very worthy of a visit. I’m looking forward to the next 36 hours here. On Tuesday we head up towards the Dolomites (Italian Alps), where we’ll conquer the mighty Stelvio Pass. But that’s not until Thursday.
