I think I can declare my hip problem over now. And it’s simply due to a week of simple core strengthening exercises (essentially Pilates). It’s not bothering me in the slightest any more. I’m glad I was able to self diagnose it correctly. I would otherwise have spent a lot of time and money seeking out cures from all manner of people. I was almost ready for an MRI too, which is not cheap.
So I’m basically injury free going into the New Year. I do, however, have a bit of a chest infection I picked up in Melbourne earlier in the week. It’s not keeping me from running, so it can’t be too big an issue. The worst thing is the coughing at night.
I’m really looking forward to a big upcoming year of running. I’ll be doing more races than I’ve done in decades. The first will be a 32 km race across King Island on March 12. I’ll need to get cracking for that one.
More of the Argentinian Pampas in this photo. This was one of the better stretches of the road across the South American continent, with nice wide and clear shoulders. Often the shoulders were of long grass with snakes and giant ugly lizards lurking within.
