Although I feel I’m making incremental progress in curing both my pelvic and Achilles issues, it’s simply not at a fast enough rate for me to have any confidence I’d be ready for the King Island race in less than a month. Therefore, I’m making the unfortunate decision to pull the pin on my participation in that event. It had been my running focus for this year, especially as it’s the 25th anniversary of the event. I’m just going to have to wait until next year now.
I took the photo below on this very day six years ago. It was the day I began the North American leg of my run around the world in San Francisco. It was certainly an iconic place to begin such a monumental stage of running, finishing in Massachusetts eight months later, after more than 12,000 km across the US.
