I definitely felt tired warming up for today’s 3 km time trial, but came away pretty satisfied with 10:26 (3:35, 3:29, 3:22; average of 3:29 per km). That’s a 13 second improvement on three weeks ago. I could tell I was tired during the run, as I knew I had more in me but couldn’t get it out. I was pleased I was able to sprint well, though, over the final 200 metres.

Several on-line book stores are now advertising my book, The World At My Feet, though they can’t distribute it until July 1 (but it’s in the real book stores on June 24). You can either Google the book’s title along with my name to find some of these stores. A couple of example links are https://shop.abc.net.au/products/world-at-my-feet-the-pbk and https://books.google.com.au/books/about/The_World_At_My_Feet.html?id=EJlfBwAAQBAJ&redir_esc=y.

Today’s photo is highly relevant. It is the photo upon which the cover of the book is based (I think I may have posted it previously). It was taken in the Glamis Dunes in the desert of southern California.

It was another hot one, and even now, at 5:15 pm, it’s over 30 C. Remember too, whatever the official temperature is in the shade, I’m experiencing it quite a bit hotter on the road in the direct sunshine.

I think it got to me, as my legs had nothing by the end of the day. The busy road with no shoulder (yes, I was back on one of these today) did nothing to improve the day. The forecast is for the next week to be above 30 C, and tomorrow will be on the same road as today, so I’d better steel myself for another tough day.
