I would normally be planning a time trial for Monday, except I’ll have to give it a miss this week. On Sunday I’m heading over to Cherbourg in France for work, but at least that will give me the opportunity to run in an entirely different environment for a week. I may even get the chance to catch up with Serge Girard, the current world record holder for the Fastest Circumnavigation of the Earth on Foot. He lives only a couple of hours from Cherbourg.
This photo was taken six years ago today as I crossed the state line from South Dakota into North Dakota. You can see the welcome sign on the right, although I don’t know why part of it was obscured. This was one of the first days in the US that year where the heat increased noticeably. It was to get a whole lot hotter over the next month.
