We’ve been having a great Tour de Bois. These past three days we’ve ridden from Swan Hill to Kerang, then to Echuca, and today to Numurkah, with days of 81 km, 95 km, and 82 km. The weather has been a touch cold, but the winds have been predominantly favourable.
Yesterday, however, there was an incident. Chips hit a hole on the shoulder of the road and went down, taking Turbo and Chook with him. Chips has a few lacerations and Chook has very bruised ribs. Turbo escaped virtually unscathed. They were all riding today, so it wasn’t too bad, but it could have been, with large trucks speeding by just metres away.
As usual, I’ve run in all the towns too, usually covering between five and ten kilometres per morning before the cycling starts. It’s always a pleasure to run in little country towns I’ve never been to before.
I took this photo this afternoon near the town of Nathalia in Victoria. From the left there’s Chips, Poddy, The Hud, Turbo, and Big Andy. Sorry about the darkness of the shot.
