I twisted my ankle quite badly this morning while running. It hurt a lot at the time, and is aching now, but I’ve had worse. I’m sure it won’t cause me to miss a day. I even managed to throw in a 4:36 km after it happened, so it can’t be too bad.

Below is another of the brief posts I published during my break from the world run nine years ago. I was back on the road on January 24 in 2013, so expect regular updates from Jan 24 this year. There will be probably be a couple before then too.

Distance today = 0 km; Total distance = 15,414.07 km; Location = Buenos Aires – 34 27.800′ S, 58 29.779′ W; Start time = n/a, Finish time = n/a

There’s only a week and half now till we head to Portugal, where I’ll begin my run across Europe – the third continent of my run around the world.

I continue to be plagued by the sore left heel. As mentioned, it only started after I arrived back in Sydney. It seems the less running I do, the worse it gets. Even walking sometimes hurts now. However, I’m confident it will be fine once I start running again in earnest. Well, that’s what I’m telling myself.

I’m continuing to enjoy the break, including celebrations for my mother-in-law, Dulcie’s, 95th birthday a couple of days ago. Once again, bushfires are wreaking havoc during the Australian summer, but thankfully no lives have been lost so far. The Bureau of Meteorology has had to add two extra colours to their maps to accommodate new record in-the-shade temperatures that were off the previous scales. The map scale now goes up to 54C (129F).

I’ll post more info re. the precise timing of my resumption of running when it comes to hand.
