Jan 4, 2022

I’m off to a good start to the year, logging 80 km in the first four days of 2022. That’s more than I’ll average for the year, but I prefer to start well than to be playing catch up. I even threw in a 4:41 km this morning, which is my fastest single km for a little while.

As you’ll see from the blog post below, I was still on a break from the world run at this time in 2013. And I’d forgotten that a few days ago on NYE, it was the 10th anniversary of the start of my run around the world.

Distance today = 0 km; Total distance = 15,414.07 km; Location = Buenos Aires – 34 27.800′ S, 58 29.779′ W; Start time = n/a, Finish time = n/a

I trust everyone enjoyed their New Year’s Eve celebrations. We had a very nice time with friends on the Mornington Peninsula. I continue to put in a few miles each day, maintaining a basic level of fitness ahead of the resumption of my world run. I also continue to enjoy a classic Australian summer holiday.

I will now be flying to Lisbon on January 21. It will take a few days to get the hire car and other things arranged, so I expect to be resuming the running a few days later, possibly the 24th. It will be an exciting eight or nine months ahead. I should reach Sydney again in mid September.

In the meantime, I’ll keep updating the blog whenever there is something to share.
