We enjoyed another evening of great French hospitality last night, courtesy of a lovely dinner with Florence and Vincent. They have a spectacular B&B in a 300 year old building, which is so impressive that reality TV shows have asked to film there. Thanks Florence and Vincent.

The weather was much better today, with overcast skies but no rain. I just didn’t seem to have much energy, though. I suspect the difficult past couple of days has caught up with me. But I’ll survive.

I passed through the town of Uzes around lunchtime, with its ancient town centre, configured in a circle. I’m guessing it used to be walled at one stage.

There were several other old towns that I passed through during the afternoon, including the impressive Pouzilhac.

I finished in the town of St Laurent des Arbres, where we have been given a generous discount at the local hotel, built in the 1300s. It’s a fantastic place, elegantly furnished, and dripping in history. Our “room” is actually several rooms, and also has a balcony overlooking the ancient courtyard. Once again, we are the recipients of wonderful French generosity.

Finally, it was great to see the mighty South Sydney Rabbitohs kick off their NRL season with a thumping win over the Roosters. Dave, who as at the game in Sydney, kept me updated throughout the morning as I ran. I’m looking forward to a successful season ahead.
