It was on this day in 2012 that Carmel put together a short fun video commemorating the fact I had recently passed the halfway mark of my run around the world. You can watch this by clicking on the link below.

The day before I got caught in a freak but short dust/hail storm east of Mendoza. There’s a photo of that too. I was lucky Carmel was nearby in the car when the worst of the hail struck, so I hopped in and we sat it out.

A few days later I was caught in an even worse and lengthy hail storm. On that occasion I was lucky that it began when I was just 300 metres from an overhead bridge, so I was able to take cover while golf ball sized stones pummelled the vehicles.
