This morning I ran the same simple speed work session as I did two weeks ago. At 46 .2 seconds, I was three seconds faster up the hill (210 metres at 10% gradient), and I averaged about a second faster in the 3 x 200 metres (average of 36.4 sec). Nothing exceptional, but I’m happy to still be running these times at this age.
On this day back in 2012 I was running in the middle of the Kentucky countryside. Below are some photos from the time, including one as I passed through the very small town of Preston (look it up on Google Maps) and another Carmel took of a sign advertising classes on carrying concealed weapons. And that was just a few days after she’d had a rifle pointed at her. Yup, this was definitely gun country.
